• Advised the Group on corporate rationalization following its de-merger with BRDB, Multi-Purpose Corporation and Kamunting Corporation.
  • Advised on legal issues arising from the successive re-development and re-positioning of the E&O Hotel, George Town and Lone Pine, Batu Ferringhi.

Advised the Group in relation to its Hotel Assets in Penang, commercial agreements and structures & successive redevelopment exercises of the property since 1996.

Represented the new owners in the completion and post completion of the acquisition and re-development of the Casuarina Hotel, Penang into the Hard Rock Hotel.

Advised upon a wide range of legal issues arising from:

  • privatization exercise of Palmco Holdings Berhad during pendency of minority shareholder suit against IOI (RM746 million)
  • recession of the acquisition of 24,117.82 hectares of land from Duta Land Berhad and settlement of the disputes (RM830 million)
  • Joint Venture Agreements for plantations and development and disputes with consultants, contractors and purchasers in the various IOI Projects and Township
  • Regulatory issues arising from take overs and mergers                           
  • Undertaken extensive project support and conveyancing for projects in Bandar Puchong, IOI City, Bandar Puteri Bangi, Bandar Bukit Mahkota Kajang

Advised the Group on:

  • construction law and conveyancing transactions for Bandar Tasek Puteri, Low Yat Plaza, My Habitat.
  • part-contractual issues arising from the sale of the Empire Tower and Yow Chuan Plaza.
  • planning law arising from the implementation of the KL Master Plan (density, height and plot ratios), land acquisition arising from the MRT Line, Commercial Tenancies.
  • Planning issues related to the UN Heritage Status in Georgetown, Penang.
  • legal and fiduciary issues.
  • Successfully defended the Group in claims by and against purchasers and commercial tenants.
